Ōtone - A Tale of Hands and Bones

from DARK AMBIENT by International Compilation

/

about

Ōtone - aka Pablo Diserens - sound artist, field recordist and record label YGAM founder, explores the relationship between bodies and spaces. With found sounds and objects at the core of his conceptions, the artist elaborates abstract industrial landscapes that take form in experimental, drone, noise, techno, acousmatic and musique concrète compositions. Ōtone weaves with the mind of the audience, emphasizing the power of imagination and memory within an elaborated time frame of carefully selected sounds, to create a whole new range of images and thoughts, resulting in a mixture between electronic music and phonography.

A Tale of Hands and Bones

Using only two recordings, one of a Chinese wind chimes and another of hand frictions, A Tale of Hands and Bones was originally composed for contemporary dancer Vincent Bozek’s dance video on the theme of the skeleton. Inspired by works from Valerio Tricoli, Aki Onda and Biosphere, Ōtone proposes an intimate exploration of the body through its articulation and structural core by blending raw glitchy sounds with smooth transposed bells that calls into question the notion of scale and matter.
