Doris Steinbichler_Consciousness.

I start with a live set. I have a classic analoge violin, a pickup microphone and a Lexicon Jamman with which I loop myself playing the violin. I transform this loop „by hand“ with an Alesis „Air effect“ device, which is a motion-controlled effect unit. So with the movements of my hand I shape and transform the sound live while I’m recording.


An Austrian born and raised artist, who was discovered by and/or discovered the Mexico City performance and sound art world of the 1990s. Living in Mexico City for 17 years, she became an integral part of this dynamic environment until relocating to Vienna Austria in 2005.
Her first work in 1993 in a performance art festival organized by "X-Teresa Arte Actual" in Mexico City was recognized with an award. From that point, she continuously presented work, often mixing sound art and performance. In 1999, she founded the studio/art space “epicentro”, where more than 100 project, events, concerts, performances, expositions and talks took place. Among them a one week radio station ("Remediar- la (Anti)Bienal de Radio"). Now she is a performance and sound artist performing in festivals around the world.
