Maria G is a composer, sound designer and programmer born in Greece and based in Manchester, UK. She has studied Computer Science (BSc) at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and Music Technology (BA) at the University of Huddersfield, where she also recently completed an MA by Research focusing on bringing together elements from acousmatic music and EDM.

She enjoys experimenting with various musical styles, is primarily interested in making studio-based music and often creates her own sound-processing software tools. Apart from her solo projects, she is also a member of the experimental music group Edges Ensemble and co-founder of the folktronika band Fabrikotion.

Moons of Pluto is the first complete work she is releasing on Urban Arts Berlin, after Icelandic, one of the pieces in the album, was included in the “Synthesis Vol.1” compilation of sound works by women from around the world.

This album wouldn’t be what it is if it weren’t for the performers that enthusiastically accepted to come to the studio with me. Their recorded improvisations served as the raw material out of which Homage to Cubism, Flaminius Rufus and Icelandic were created:

Platform was created out of a field recordings of a North Bay Railway train in Scarborough.

The text in Flaminius Rufus comes from the short story “The Immortal” by Jorge Luis Borges.
