Bruno Hiss (*1978 - São Paulo, Brazil)
Pluridisciplinary Artist.
Fields of interest: Visual Arts, Sound Arts, Body Arts, Site-Specific Interventions, Oriental Philosophies and Practices (Shinto and Aikido), and
Anthropology.
Visual Artist and Photographer. Participates in collective exhibitions and offers workshops, since 1998.
Sound Artist and member of the label Al Revés, since 2005, has released solo and collaborative albums, and performed in different events (4th Strange Music Festival, SP; 30th São Paulo Art Biennale; 2nd Annual International Conference on Deep Listening, Troy-New York; Radical Software, W139, Amsterdam) and venues (Walden, Ibrasotope, Fitacrepe, Trackers, Morfeus Club, Audio Rebel, Jazz nos Fundos).
Master in Japanese Culture - Faculty of Philosophy, Languages and Literature, and Human Sciences - University of São Paulo (2012). Researched issues of identity and belongingness in family photographs and letters of Japanese Immigrants in Brazil, using methodologies of Visual Anthropology. During this course, did research and field-work in Japan, invited by Kanagawa University. Also reunited part of his maternal family.
Practitioner of Aikido, under guidance of Master Makoto Nishida, São Paulo Aikido Federation (FEPAI), since 2010. In 2011, lived as an intern student at the Temple of Aikido, Aikikai Foundation, under guidance of Master Shigemi Inagaki, in the province of Iwama, Japan, for 44 days.
