Leandro Kalén is a multi-instrumentalist, composer, singer and producer born in 1985 at Buenos Aires, Argentina. With more than 50 appearances on albums and more than 120 gigs per year, Leandro is one of the most restless profiles of the musical environment of his region.
He began studing music at the age of 12. Some of his studies and teachers: Escuela de Música Popular de Avellaneda, Escuela Sónica, Gustavo Liamgot, Abel Rogantini, Rosario Bléfari, Roberto Catarineu, Osvaldo Fattoruso.
Awarded in the 2008 and 2009 editions of COREAR (ADVA´s remix competition), he composed original music for videogames, films and theatre.
He has developed an intense teaching activity (entering prenatal, initial, primary, special and baccalaureate education) from 2007 to the present, in different institutions.
Participated in the "Desfile Artístico Histórico" organized by Fuerza Bruta for the Argentine Bicentennial (2010), representing the Native Peoples, under the musical leadership of Gaby Kerpel. The show was seen by more than 2 million people in Buenos Aires.
He is director of the show "The Pink Panther live", where a 6-member orchestra musicalizes live original chapters of the character created by Blake Edwards, with the original music of Henry Mancini.
In 2012, he offered a concert at the National Congress.
He produced thematic concerts dedicated to the work of artists like Luis Alberto Spinetta, Fernando Cabrera or Pat Metheny.
Leandro has worked with more than 50 artists and bands until now: Javier Calequi, Nicolás Ojeda, Oscar Kreimer, Rubén Ferrero, Tomás Martini, Rafunk, Fried Chicken, Bogado y los Venticalores, Daniel Messina, Raúl Carnota, Javier Barría, George Haslam, Paulo Alexandre Jorge, Walter Soria, Héctor Sánchez, among others. He participates actively in recording sessions and concerts with different argentine and international artists.
He recently released a solo album, "Mecánica Celeste" (PAI Records, 2015), featuring almost 70 incredible colleagues: Litto Nebbia, Michiel Bortslap, Jorge Cumbo, Hermeto Pascoal, Alambre González, Oscar Kreimer, Rubén Carrasco, Juan Namuncurá, Pedro Menéndez, among others. On this album, he played the following instruments: glockenspiel, melodica, keyboards, synths, acoustic piano, 6/12 acoustic guitars, electric and synth guitar, percussion, soundscapes, voices, and obviously acoustic, fretless, and 4/5 electric basses.
Since 2010 he has been working on his own group, marked by an imprint that highlights the singular and powerful contemporary reading of universal popular music, with wide scope for improvisation. There, rock, pop, jazz, folklore and experimental music intersect with their investigation of ancient traditions.
