about

Maria G is a composer and sound designer based in Manchester, UK.
She was born in Thessaloniki, Greece in 1986. She started learning the piano at the age of 8 and several years later she moved on to classical guitar. In 2009 she received a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and the same year she moved to England in order to study Music Technology at the University of Huddersfield, earning a second, first class Bachelor’s degree in 2013. She recently completed a Master’s by Research focusing on bringing together elements from acousmatic music and EDM.
As a composer she is mostly interested in making studio-based music and has experimented with various musical styles, often trying to create works that are influenced by more than one genre. Her latest collaborative work named “Fabrikotion” blends together folk, rock, ambient and electronic music and she is also a member of the Huddersfield-based experimental music ensemble “Edges Ensemble”, active both as a performer and a composer.
