XIL is an electronic artist. XIL refers to a state of exile: born into alienation, strangeness as a universal, binding concept. XIL is deafness to common sense. XIL is fields of unmeaning, unmaking and unmasking.
XIL is best known for the collaboration HYENAZ with the performance artist Mad Kate. HYENAZ is an esoteric, movement and voice based electronic music project synthwave project. The pair are releasing their second album “Critical Magic” and have toured extensively to galleries, performances spaces, festivals and clubs across Europe, North America and Asia, including Berlin’s famed Berghain, the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Seoul, Korea and Sled Island Festival in Calgary, Canada. Electro superstar Peaches has called the band “an electronic monster duo”.
This year they provided sound design for the Yony Leyser documentary “Queercore” (Totho Films/ARTE)
As XIL, she explores the darker elements of club music while searching for the key to a spiritual revolution via the sonic.
XIL has produced the work of V, Berglind Austsdottir, and Mary Ocher and has remixed AUTIST, Kala and Sister Mantos.
