about

[Track dedicated to the tragic & gore situation happening in Mexico]

Verónica Mota is a musician and sound designer from Mexico City currently working in Berlin. Her works encompass analogue and digital synthesis, locational recording and music-concrete techniques, often displaying her proficiency at playing a variety of instruments. She has produced a large body of soundtrack work for radio, film and performance, and, as Cubop, as a solo artist in her own right.

Since 2012 she also operates as Espectra Negra in the underground industrial-noise scene. Her first debut album "Savage Justice" brought her to a new label where she proudly became one of the most interesting ritualistic noise projects from Berlin. She collaborated already with legends such as Annie Stubbs (Sudden Infant/Devotion), John Murphy (SPK) and Jon Evans (Last Domion Lost). Now starting new collaborative works with Nikolas Schreck (US), Instinct Primal (CZ) and a split-tape with TZII from Belgium.

Her strong talent and constant work also got her a home label in Japanese territory. After her self-releases she is now proudly part of the excellent archival catalogue from Lust Vessel. This label considers her works as serious and valuable as all the stuff they print in tape and vinyl format. In 2015 there will be at least three new print releases: Archival works Vol. I and II by Cubop, and a new and fresh album "Alchemy & Death" by Espectra Negra. All of them a must for whom follows her sonic journey in the last decade.

Verónica Mota also works as serious sound artist presenting live works at important venues for experimental music. She has performed live in various countries and relevant spaces such as NK in Berlin, Germany, Tin Tabernacle in London, England, and Ex-Teresa Arte Actual in Mexico City, to mention some.

She has also being part of interesting exhibitions presenting live sound, installations, video and performance art works. For example: "The Death Of Reason" video installation & live concert at NSK State in Leipzig in 2011, "Untittled", a John Cage's inspired interactive installation at Terminal 8 in Gorzow, Poland in 2012, "Madre Tenebra" live sound with visuals by Magda Bondos at Galerie Futura in Berlin (also presented live at MS STUBNITZ in Hamburg) and "The Land Of Death" performance art work at Neon Kunst Berlin in 2014, among many other works.

As sound designer she has composed sound works for dance projects and varius films. Just two months ago she was asked to produce three strong pieces for an experimental film directed by Giorgos Efthimiou in Greece.
