Graduated from Grenoble's and Helsinki's School of Art (in 1999 and 2000), Isabelle Stragliati (born in France) worked on the still and moving image, before turning to the sound medium. In 2002, she approached the practice of the DJing as an extension of her approach of the film editing (under the name of Rescue), and cofounded Chica-Chic, a structure dedicated to the promotion of the offbeat and underground musical scene.
Long-time volunteer of Radio Campus Grenoble as presenter and music programmer, she became in 2011 technician director and producer, then coordinator and program director of the 90.8FM. She deepened her practice of the radio production there and turned to creation, through field recording in particular. Her productions are broadcasted on the Radio Campus France network, France Culture Plus, and in festivals and events (Longueur d’Ondes, Radiophrenia).
« Quietly Sitting in a Room by Myself » refers to the quote by the French philosopher Pascal « All of humanity's problems stem from man's inability to sit quietly in a room alone. », and so here I litteraly put this into practice. The piece follows the wanderings of the mind: noticing a perceived sound, focusing on it, amplifying it, tranforming it into something else, going away in a story… Not in the room anymore. Back. And away again... and so on until the mind finds its peace.
